Many horticulture plants are more cultured varieties of natives. Use these to add color, interest and form to your landscapes and gardens. Grounded cover |

Ground cover plants are ideal to carpet paths, spaces between stepping stones, pavers or tuck them in rock crevices and under perennials in flower beds. Ground covers prevent weed invasion, insulate the soil and add color and texture. There are many species and varieties with and without significant flowers and range in height from 6” to less than a 1”. Many endure traffic and make excellent substitutes for small lawn areas. |

Once established they require less water, fertilizer and maintenance while providing cover and browse for birds and wildlife. Native plants protect our soils from erosion by deflecting the heat and reflection of the hot summer sun and insulating from winter winds and cold. Use native shrubs and flowers to blend the natural beauty of our region to the more intimate setting of our private spaces and gardens. We are especially fond of natives suited to alpine rock gardens.
